Moderate Activity On Stock Exchange
C Special to “Northern Advocate ”] AUCKLAND. This Day. : There was only moderate activity op the stock exchange today with a small list of sales recorded at the first cail. In the banking, interest centred in New Zealand, which had fresh business at £2 4/-, and a later market between £2 3/10 and £2 4/-. Insurances were easier. South British changed hands 6d lower at £4 15/6, while buyers for New Zealands dropped back to £3 5/3. For Auckland Gas, buyers moved up to £1 1/6, with sellers 4d higher. Coal shares were easier and buyers dropped their limits for Renowns and Taupiris. Australia industrials looked better, and buyers raised offers for several lines., G. J. Coles had a market between £5 2/6 and £5 3/6. Buyers for Radios moved up to £1 3/-, with sellers 2/away.
Woolworths, New Zealand rights, were quoted with a market from £4 2/6 and £5 5/-.
In the mining section, the Waihi group weakened and buyers for Waihi Investments dropped back to 11'/-. Gillespies were quoted ex div. from 1/3 to 1/6.
Sales recorded at noon were: National Bank of Australasia. £7 3/-; Bank of N.Z., £2 4/-; Milne and Choyce E pref., 4/-.
