MAUNGATUROTO DAIRY CO.’S PAYOUT
About 1/lj Standard Anticipated A total payout of 1/lt per lb standard, an advance of between Id and lid on the previous season, is anticipated by the Maungaturoto Dairy Company, according to statements made by the secretary, Mr A. B. Cox, at a group meeting of suppliers in the Paparoa area. There was a large attendance. The chairman, Mr F. Cullen, said that farewell would be said to the suppliers of one district, Otukatere, which had been cut off from the Maungaturoto company’s area by the rearrangemeht of boundaries decided upon by the -Executive Commission of Agriculture. Mr Cullen explained the advantages of the zoning system in the elimination of waste caused by overlapping, and expressed the opinion that the Maungaturoto company would gain by the adjustments made in the district.
He emphasised the practical helpfulness of co-operation, and the cooperative spirit as exemplified in the dairy industry today. Encouraging- Figures. Encouraging figures from the bal-ance-sheet (subject to audit) were quoted by Mr Cox. Three hundred and thirty suppliers had contributed to an increased output of 116 tons, on the previous year. Gf this, 3800 boxes had reached the 94 per cent, grading, and netted a bonus of 7d per box, the net result of which was a surplus amounting to £992 17/10 over the guaranteed price. Profits of £672 from the garage branch of the business and £243 froth the stores' account had been transferred to reserve.
The factory manager, Mr C. Halligan, gave useful advice on the maintenance of a good standard cream supply, and emphasised that only by the co-operation of the -farmer at his end and the manager and the staff at the factory, could best result's in the production of a first class article be secured.
Various questions were asked by suppliers and answered by . the officials. It was evident that the utmost confidence was felt in the directorate and management, and that harmony prevails in their relationships.
