SIMPSON SLANDER CASE NEXT MONTH
Alleged Remark Regarding Divorce LONDON, March 24. The slender action brought by Mr Ernest Simpson against Mrs Arthur Sutherland, wife of Lieutenant-Colonel A. H. C. Sutherland, has been set down I for hearing in the Law Court, beginning on April 6. The action resulted from a remark, allegedly made by Mrs Sutherland and overhead by Mr Simpson's sister, Mrs Peter KerrSmiley, at a London luncheon party, as follows: “Simpson was well paid for permitting the divorce to go through.” The divorce granted against Mr Simpson, on the only permissible grounds* those of misconduct, will be moved absolute bn April 27. It is understood, * states the Central News Agency, that England’s most successful barrister, Sir Patrick Hastings, K.C., has been briefed by Mrs Sutherland. . ■ A Mr Reginald Vaughan will represent Mr Simpson.
