“We Have Learned Our Lesson,” Rebel Chief Says (Received 10 a.m.) LONDON, March 23, The Madrid correspondent of the British United Press states that the Government forces found' supplies of mustard gas shells among the munitions abandoned by the retreating Italians, as well as ah abundant supply of gas masks, which were immediately served out to loyalist forces. A message from Lisbon states that General Dellano, in admitting the setback to the rebels, said: “We have learned a lesson and shall not fall into a trap again. We shall resume our advance in more favourable weather.” The insurgent authorities have executed the Spanish High Commissioner at Tangier, Senor Buy lias. 1 He was' arrested at the commencement of the campaign in Spanish Morocco; Aid Raids Resumed. While Seville is observing Holy Week, with processions of -barefoot penitents and religious services, warfare is continuing bitterly on the Madrid front.
Clear spring weather brought out war planes, between 35 and 40 insurgent machines taking advantage of the absence of 70 Government planes, which were raiding the front lines, bombed Guadalarajara. Many civilians sheltering were wounded or crushed by falling masonry. It is estimated that there are over 100 dead. Valencia was also raided before anti-aircraft artillery drove off the raiders.
