Marua
The Otonga cricket team journeyed to Marua on March 20th, and played the local eleven in Mr G. E. Austin’s paddock. Marua made 55 in their first innings and 82 in their second innings, and Otonga 66 in their first, and 55 in their second innings The grand total was: Marua 137, Otonga 121. Quite a number of ladies and children accompanied the Otonga team, and the Marua ladies were well represented. Mr Martin (Otonga captain) . congratulated the victors, and hoped Otonga would have the pleasure of wresting the Ashes from them at Otonga on April 3. He also thanked the Marua. ladies for their hospitality in providing luncheon and afternoon tea, and extended a hearty invitation to them to . accompany the team to Otonga. : Mr Billington, the local captain, thanked Mr and Mrs Austin for the use of the .field (which is always kept in splendid condition), provision of seating accommodation for the onlookers, and for always providing hot water.
