REVISES SALARIES FOR CABINET MINISTERS

Proposed Bill Will Remove Anomalies IBritish Official Wireless.! (Received 2.30 p.m.) RUGBY, March 23. It is expected that a Bill revising salaries of Cabinet Ministers will be introduced in the House of Commons. * 4 - The present salary scale is full of anomalies, and all parties for a long .time have favoured revision. Mr Baldwin, who has let it be known that he will retire from the office of Prime Minister after the Coronation, has been actuated by a ■ desire not to benefit himself in such legislation, but to have the whole position clarified by the time his successor is called to office. It is understood the measure will propose that all ’ Cabinet Ministers, with two exceptions, will receive a salary of £SOOO a year, irrespective of the office held. The two exceptions are the Lord Chancellor and Prime Minister. At present, the Lord Chancellor receives, a salary of £SOOO, with a further £SOOO for acting as Speaker in the House of Lords. It is not proposed to lower the present salary of the Lord Chancellor, and it is possible that the same figure, £IO,OOO a year, will be adopted in the case of the Prime Minister. It is understood that there will also be two further scales, of salaries for Ministers outside Cabinet, and for Parliamentary Under-Secre-taries. i
