Increased Business At Steady Values jj {Special to "Northern Advocate:" AUCKLAND, This Day. Increased business was done this morning on the Stock Exchange, most values being steady in the substantial list of sales. Broken Hills were an exception, losing 2/3 to sell at £4 7/-, with a later market from £.4 6/6 to £4 7/6. ■ Electro Zincs also looked weaker, I having buyers for the ordinaries at £3. 0/6, and for the prefs. at £3 1/6, without sellers in either case. Mt. Lyells, on the other hand, were firmer, a buyer coming in at £2 10/3, and selling limits being raised at £2 11/-. In mining, Marthas, after dropping back to business at 18/9 late yesterday, had buyers at that figure this morning and sellers 6d higher. Grand Junctions had a firm market from 3/10 to 4/4; Bank of New Zealands regained 3d of yesterday’s fall to sell at £2 3/3, and the D. Mortgage issue was also ;a shade firmer. Northern Roller Mills gained 3d in business at £1 2/9. Government loans were quiet and virtually unchanged. A feature of the noon call was the rise in Silknits, which sold at £3 11/-, ar. improvement of 13/-, since a fortnight ago. Final quotations were from £3 5/- to £3 12/6. The easing im Australian shares was checked, Adfetralian Glass, Broken Hills and Electro Zincs all having slightly improved quotations. .G. J. Coles moved up to a sale at £5 5/- and Colonial Sugars had a still between £44 15/- and £45 5/-. Bank of New Zealands continued to firm, buyers offering £2 3/3 with sellers at £2 4/-, but E.S. and A. Banks were weaker. Buyers for New Zealand Insurance raised their offers to £3 0/3. Mt. Lyells, after reported business at £2 10/10J, were quoted from £2 4/- to £2 12/-.
