News From Nola

Maungakaramea. Dear Princess Raranga, This is my first letter to you and I hope it finds you well. I have gained only three points, but I am going to try and get some more, so 1 may have a book prize. Does Kupe still keep his desk tidy? We have started school now, but we had a long holiday. I am in Standard four. On February 24 the annual picnic was held. I went to it and ran in three races. In the ordinary x’unning race I came second; the girl’s potato race I came third and in the girls’ three-legged race I also came second, sr. I had three prizes. Isn’t the weather awful? It’s either raining or hot. When we wont out black-berrying one day we picked 241bs. and mother made it into jam. We did not have much fruit this year on account of the weather. I am enclosing a recipe of Spruce. I like it to take to school as a drink. Well. I will draw to a close wishing you, Kupe and all his loyal followers, best wishes. One of the tribe, NOLA WOODCOCK.
