NEW CURING FACTORY

The energetic secretary of the Kerikeri'Cruising Club, Mr Harcourt Alexander, has purchased a 14ft. yacht, and will sail her under the burgee of the club. Built on good lines, the Ilex, as she has been named, will be a welcome addition to the growing fleet. Building operations comjsience in earnest upon the new curing factory on Monday next, when the carpenters will begin. All speed is being made to have the factory completed before the lemon season is very far advanced. The Recreation Reserve Committee has received a donation of £5 18/ from the Kerikeri Players as the result of the proportion due from the September production.

Electric light is to be installed in the pavilion in the Recreation. Ground, as the outcome of negotiations with the Alderton Utility Company. A power point for the convenience of users in preparing tea. etc., has also been ordered, and the installation is expected to be completed shortly. The recent wet weather, while doing little serious damage to the citrus trees and orchards generally, has been responsible for a lot of inconvenience to growers. Several had ploughed their properties, and the rain has packed the loose earth to such an extent that it may be necessary to plough again. During the worst of the rain, some few of the steepest orchards scoured a little, but in most places tthe rain had little harmful effect.
