SUNSHINE ONCE AGAIN

MAIN HIGHWAYS CLEAR Once again the weather has cleared, and to-day the sun was shining brilliantly. The heavy rain of yesterday morning eased off in the afternoon, and cleared rapidly during the night. Fears were entertained yesterday that if the rain continued throughout the night some of the main roads liable to flooding would be affected, but to-day all the main highways are open, with the exception of the portion at Hukerenui. The atmosphere was warm and humid to-day, and surface water dried rapidly. Those campers who braved the storm will have another opportunity to dry out their gear, and will certainly hope that the sun will remain in the sky for the rest of the holiday period. While campers and holiday-makers have suffered, pastures have benefitted greatly, and the warm sunshine will have the effect of inducing a rapid growth.
