CRICKET ASSOCIATION AFFAIRS
MOVE TO ENSURE PAYMENT OF CLUB FEES
The last fortnightly meeting of. the Whangarei Cricket Association for this year took place last evening, the president, Mr C. H. G. Hedditch, occuping the chair.
Messrs L. Weston, J. E. Matthews and A. D. Cook were appointed a committee to control the affairs of the association until the next meeting on January 12. Tiie competition matches continue for another two Saturdays and then ail grades go into recess until cricket recommences on January 9. The treasurer, Mr G. H. Grant, brought up the matter of unpaid fees, in which many clubs are at fault. The question provoked considerable- discussion and a motion that clubs who have not paid their outstanding fees by December 31 be debarred from taking part in the competitions, was carried unanimously.
Arrangements were finalised in connection with the visit of a Taumarunui team at Christmas. The visitors are to play a Whangarei fe'am at the Reclamation on Christmas Day and Maungakaramea at the country ground on Boxing Day. Mr T. Conaghan was appointed manager of the visitors during their stay.
