LITTLE DISCUSSION BY LORDS
[United Press Association.—By Electric Telegraph. — Copyright.! (Received 3 p.m.) LONDON, December 7.
The House of Lords was crowded and there were many peeresses in the reserved gallery when Viscount Halifax, Lord Privy Seal, replied to a question by Lord Snell (Labour) and repeated Mr Baldwin’s statement made in the House of Commons. Lord Snell said: “Without essential facts, a discussion would be unreal and injurious. On the other hand, the matter should not be allowed to drift indefinitely. I hope the Government will give information as soon as circumstances permit.” The Marquis of Crewe, for the Liberals, said: “I feel we are all indebted to the Prime Minister and the Government for the attitude they have adopted in this crisis.
“I should also like to add to what has been said in expression of our profound' sympathy with His Majesty an equal expression of sympathy with the Royal Family, and, in particular, with Queen Mary, who has won the respect and affection of His Majesty’s subjects.”
Lord Halifax promised to convey the remarks of Lord Snell and the Marquis of Crewe to Mr Baldwin. The House then rose.
