heat till boiling. Stir in cornflour and sugar to sweeten. Cook for a few minutes, stirring all the time. Pour into, a large basin and when nearly cold, whip in. the beaten egg whites and lemon juice. Cover the bottom of a glass dish with macaroons and ratafias (crumbled). Pour over part of the “cream,” add another layer of cake crumbs and then the rest of the cream. Strew shredded candied pe»l lightly on top.
