NEW NORTHLAND BEAUTY SPOT
WEST COAST BEACH OPENED UP A new road which will give access to the West Coast has practically been completed, and will be much appreciated by tourists this summer. The Northern Patrol of the A.A., Mr J. Skow, said yesterday that the road, which had been formed and partly metalled, was just south of Oranga, between Kaihu and Waipoua forest, and ran off the main road for about four miles. The metalling will be completed in a very short time.
The new road, which has been sought for some time, will be greatly appreciated. Good camping areas are available and there is fresh water. Another beauty spot in the North has undoubtedly been opened up. When the metal is completed to the beach, and when the tide is suitable, cars will be able to travel along the beach to Bayly’s, a distance of about 20 miles.
