OBITUARY

MR CROYDON WOOLLEY PASSES

The “Advocate” announces with regret the death today of Mr Croydon Woolley, son of Mr and Mrs J. S. Woolley, 'Apirana Avenue. His 25th birthday would have fallen on December 12, but a life full of promise has been terminated. Deceased had been ailing for six months, suffering from infective heart trouble, He had been confined to bed for the 'past three months, and, for a week, was under a specialist in Auckland. He received two blood transfusions in the Whangarei Hospital, but it was all to no avail and he passed away five minutes after noon today. John Chisholm Croydon Woolley was born at Whangarei and was educated at the Whangarei primary and high schools. He was always a smart pupil, and, after matriculating at the age of 16, he commenced as an apprentice chemist-optician in his father’s business, where he served until the fatal illness overtook him. Deceased devoted much of his leisure to healthy recreation and was a keen swimmer, golfer and cricketer. He won several medals as a member of the Whangarei Swimming Club, an,d was on the rolls of both the Mt. Denby and Whau Valley golf clubs, annexing the C grade championship of the former in 1932.
