The . . . Electrical Contracting Firm of GARNET KEENE LTD. Whangarei have just completed a totally new installation for the Maungatapere Dairy Company at their new and up-to-date factory at Maungatapere, comprising, amongst other things: Separate Electric Motor Drives to 15 different machines. These motors, ranging from Ti\ h.p., 15 h.p., 7|- h.p!, down to i 'h.p., show a majority of General Electric Company and British Thomson-Houiston Company products. * The factory proper, office and bowser station are well lighted with Mazda Electric Damps of the Traction or Shockproof type. The whole installation was wired with British Helsby Cables, the main cable to the factory switchboard being one of the largest supplied in the North, consisting of a 2|-inch steel armoured lead sheathed 4-core cabl # e. Each core is made up of 37 strands of 14 gauge copper wire, the complete cable being wrapped in eight layers of oil-impregnated paper insulation. The island switchboard for the factory is Bft. long by 6ft. wide, standing in a well-lit corner of the engine room, surrounded* by a steel mesh protecting fence. engineering The bulk of the engineering work connected with the new Maungatapere Dairy Factory was executed by The Whangarei Engineering Co: Ltd. SKILLED ENGINEERS, backed by an ORGANISATION fully equipped with the necessary machinery and plant to undertake any class of engineering work, make it possible for installations to be carried out Efficiently, Accurately and Expeditiously. THE WHANGAREI ENGINEERING CO., LIMITED. Installed the Refrigeration Plant and the Pasteurising Apparatus. The old system was completely pulled down and re-assembled with several important additions, necessitating the manufacture of a number of fittings for the job. They were made complete.at their workshops. The equipment for the refrigeration of water for the two new 9'oo-gallon tanks was installed by the Whangarei Engineering Coy.
