WHAU VALLEY GOLF CLUB

THE season just closed at Whau Valley was most successful in every way. To start with, arrangementsTwere made with the landlord in connection with the sheep and this source of trouble was much lessened in comparison with the previous season. The fairways were in first-class order, and it only remains for the committee to get the greens up to the same standard and a very good and interesting course will be available. Bunking has been commenced, but so far is only in its infancy.

The membership was about the same as the previous season, but the standard of play has definitely improved. The club was unfortunate in losing its last year's champion in R. S. Chalmers, but others have come to take his place. As usual, many surprises were created in the competitions, especially in the men's championship, but, of course, that is the beauty of the game.

Visits were paid to the Mt. Denby. Dargaville and Maungatapere clubs, and very pleasant functions they all turned out to be.
