WHANGAREI HALF DAY EXPERIENCE CITED

At the monthly meeting of the Okaihau Chamber of Commerce, a letter was received from the Kaikohe Businessmen’s Association requesting an expression of opinion on the observance of a half-day immediately before or after Sunday. Business men were agreed, he said, that the changeover was a great success, and, instead of one or two days being the busy ones, business was now spread fairly evenly over the whole week. The suggestion that Monday morning be observed did not meet with any support, and it was decided to notify the Kaikohe businessmen that Saturday was considered the most suitable afternoon for the closing of shops and businesses.
