RAILCAR HITS STAG

A railcar collided with a stag on the Midland line early this morning.

Two windows in the car were broken, and the stag was killed. The vehicle, v/hich left Christchurch at 2.30 a.m., was delayed for 38 minutes, but the time was made up on the remainder of the journey. A second railcar left as a relief at 4 a.m.

The intension was that the second car should bring passengers to Christchurch last night. The vehicle, however, collided with a railway trolley at Inchbonnie. Two men on the trolley jumped clear before the impact. The trolley was wrecked and the car damaged.
