VISIT OF NEGRO DEBATERS SUGGESTED
WELLINGTON, This Day,
The council of the Victoria University College has received a letter from Le Moyne College, Memphis, Tennessee, suggesting a tour by a team of negro debaters in 1936. The letter states that the college is conducted by the American Missionary Association of the Congregational Church. It is prepared to pay the sea travelling expenses, but will have to depend upon the colleges for entertaining expenses. The party will comprise three or four negro students, and a Caucasian, Professor Boris C. Alexander, who is Professor of Political Science and coach of debating to the College. > The Victoria College Council decided to refer the letter to the New Zealand University Students’ Association.
