AUSTRALIA TO AFRICA BY AIR
CAPTAIN TAYLOR PLANS OCEAN
FLIGHT
(Received 2 p.m.) SYDNEY, This Day.
The famous Australian airman, Captain P. G. Taylor, who accompanied “Smithy” on his 1934 flight across the Pacific and on the Southern Cross’ epic final Tasman flight in 1935, when he saved the machine by his heroism, is planning an ocean flight • from Australia to South Africa. Finance has to be arranged, but he thinks that, as the flight will be of great national importance, it might be made a national undertaking. Captain Taylor’s plans provide for a take-off from Carnarvon, Western Australia, thence to Cocos Island, Garcia Island, Seychelles, and Mombasa.
