GOVERNMENT TO FIND FINANCE
WAIKATO LAND SETTLEMENT SOCIETY C Special to “Northern Advocate i HAMILTON, This Day. Arrangements for the Government to finance the Waikato Land Settlement Society have been finalised. In an interview, Mr D. V. Bryant, honorary manager of the society, said that arrangements had been made for the Government to take a floating debenture over the whole of the society’s assets, and, against this debenture, the Government would advance what money was required to develop the society’s present properties or to extend its activities by the purchase of additional areas.
A Government representative would be a member of the board of directors, but in every other way the society would function as it had done in the past. Mr Bryant added that 00 families were now being supported on the society's areas.
The men were being paid the same rate as those being employed by the Small Farms Board.
