PEACE FOR PALESTINE
ROYAL COMMISSION’S TASK
ARAB AND JEW SHOULD CO-OPERATE
(Received 10 a.m.) RUGBY, October 3».
In a broadcast from Jerusalem, the High Commissioner for Palestine, Sir Arthur Wauchop, said that the task of the Royal Commission, which will arrive on November 11, was to investigate grievances and consider how, with justice and fairness, the aspirations of two peoples might be realised and grievances removed. The task before Palestine was to present their case in such a way as to make, if possible a deep-rooted and permanent peace.
The commission provided a great opportunity for Jew and Arab. He characterised as rash the Arab talk of boycott of the commission, and concluded: “Now, more than ever, we must encourage the quality of patience and goodwill, for peace, not terror, shall rule in Palestine.”
