Maungaturoto
A display of Highland and fancy dancing was a feature of tne October meeting of the Maungaturoto Institute. Some very fine toys were on show, and a demonstration of lampshade making evoked interest. A dressmaker’s judy had been on show at a previous meeting, and the finished and mounted judy was on show. There were remarkably good entries in the competition for the best collection of cooking, using three eggs and no more than six ounces of butter. On the musical side, a pianoforte solo was given by Mrs Stewart, and an instrumental duet by Mrs Cox-Smith and Mrs Civil.
