Mr. M. R. Findlay, officer in charge of the Native Department, Whangarei, returns to work next week after being on sick leave for the past two months. Mr. Findlay is much recovered in health after an extended visit to Rotorua.
“I regret exceedingly that Captain Buckley has relinquished his post as conductor of the Auckland Municipal Band,” said Mr T. Gray, musical judge at the competitions which opened in Whangarei today. “I am sure also that musicians throughout the Dominion will share my regret because of the great pleasure that Captain Buckley and his magnificenF band have given to the citizens of New Zealand in the rendering of * the beautiful overtures and selections of great educational value. Captain Buckley is undoubtedly the greatest cornetist, as he is also one of the greatest musicians, New Zealand has ever possessed.” .
