KAIWAKA

The recent legislation defining the zoning proposals of the Government with regard to the supply of cream to dairy factories - is causing considerable feeling in the Kaiwaka and adjacent districts. At the present time there are three factories operating in the Kaiwaka district —Maungaturoto, Te Hana and Kaipara, at Helensville. Maungaturoto and Te Hana have endeavoured already to fix the boundaries for their two factories, but were unable to agree, and the question has been., left for the zoning commission to settle.

At Kaiwaka, on Tuesday, a meeting of over 30 suppliers of the Kaipara Dairy Company was presided over by the local director, Mr R. L. Balderston, who gave an outline on the recent negotiations between the Rodney, Te Hana and Kaipara factories. At a meeting held in Auckland recently, said Mr Balderston, representatives of the Rodney, Te Hana and Kaipara factories met to consider the questions of zoning or amalgamation. Mr Duncan, of the Marketing Board, was also present. The question of amalgamating the three factories was considered by the meeting, and, after a long discussion, it was found impossible to agree, and the meeting was adjourned without having reached finality on either of the issues. Mr Balderston gave the meeting a brief outline of the discussion at the conference in Auckland.

A long discussion ensued on the questions raised by the speaker, and every aspect of the matter was discussed.
