STATE ADVANCES LOANS
MR SAVAGE QUOTES FIGURES

Since the Mortgage Corporation was established, it and its successor, the vState Advances Corporation have granted loans lor the erection of 850 houses in New Zealand.
Those figures were given yesterday by the Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. M. J. Savage, in commenting on a statement by a representative of a firm dealing in building, materials that the firm had not heard of a single house-building loan in Auckland being granted by the corporation. Mr Savage stated that the State Advances Corporation had granted 44 loans for new homes in Auckland in the two months it had been in operation. Within the last month, he added, the corporation had authorised loans for, the erection of 200 new dwellings throughout New Zealand.
