BETTER WOOL PACKS THIS YEAR

[Per Press Association. —Copyright J WELLINGTON, This Day.

Replying to Mr S. W. Broadhead’s comment on New Zealand s flax wool packs, Mr F. W. Vickerman, managing director of New Zealand Wbol Packs and Textiles Ltd., said Bradford had so far seen only two seasons’ outputs of the New .Zealand factory. The first, the 1934-35 pack of twill weave, was not as suitable as it might have been, and the second, the 1935-36 pack was the latest in which wool had been sent to England.

The 1936-37 pack, he said, was now being distributed to cover approximately one quarter of this season s clip. It was a much improved pack, and next year would be further improved, so as to minimise the complaints regarding porousness and also to minimise the possibilities of loose fibre adhering to the inside of the pack. Mr Vickerman said an experiment, much to the advantage of the flax packs, was to rub the woolly surface against flax and jute packs and observe the amount of loose fibre detached. .
