TRAVELLING AGENT’S WINTER HURDLES

The winter meeting of the Wellington Racing Club was concluded at Trentham on Saturday in fine weather. The track had improved, and the attendance was very large. The totalisator for the day handled £59,795 10/-, against £45,663 for the third day last year. The total investments for the meeting were £133,058 10/-, against £104,288 10/-, an increase of £28,770.
‘ Winter Hurdles, of 500 sovs; two miles and a Quarter: —(2-3) Travelling Agent, 9.7 (J. Fergus), 1; (3-2) Black Marlin, 9.6, 2; (6-5) Ruaform, 9.7. 3. Vdl Watch, Silk Sox, Chile, Havering, Battleground, Blackman, Dunmure. Haere Tonu, Lord Val, Pahu and Signaller were scratched. Four lengths; five lengths. Time—4.2s. Winter Oats, of 350 sovs; one mile. — (1-1) Epris, 8.11 (C. G. Wilson), 1; (5-5) Adalene, 8.8, 2; (8-9) Horowhenua, 8.4, 3. All started. Two lengths and a half; head. Time —1.464. . Onslow Handicap, of 300 sovs; six furlongs.—(s-5) Royal Dance, 8.11 (O. Reed), 1; (4-4) Mother Superior, 8.9, 2; (1-1) Dollar Bill, 8.11, 3. Greek Gold and Copyist were scratched. Half a length; length and a half. Time — 1.16£. Kia Ora Handicap, of 200 sovs; one mile.—(l-1) Ponty, 9.12, 1; (8-6) Corowa, 8.10, 2; (4-4) Calshot, 8.6, 3. La Femme Noire and Santoft were scratched. Three lengths; a head. Time—l.4B.
JOCKEYS INJURED » ' TRENTHAM, This Day. The Southland jockey, A. J. Peart, was unable to ride Parasang in the July Steeplechase on Saturday, having broken his collarbone when that horse fell in the Matai Steeplechase on Thursday.
C. Thomson, rider of Forest Glow in the July Steeplechase on Saturday, was taken to hospital for treatment, having had his mouth injured when his mount fell at the first fence.,
