KERIKERI
Mrs Knight, who has been spending the last three weeks in Kerikeri for the sake of her health, has returned to Longburn. She expressed herself as charmed with the peacefulness of Kerikeri as a place in which to recuperate after illness, and finished her stay by being present at the Kerikeri Players’ production in aid of the Recreation Reserve funds, to which she kindly donated ten shillings. Mr R. Knight, her husband, is an extensive breeder of Clydesdales in the Manawatu district.
The Hon. J. Alexander, M.L.C., and president of the New Zealand branch of the Navy League, accompanied by Mr Burke, spent the week-end visiting Mr H. Alexander and his wife. Mr Armstead and Mr J. Kendall, solicitors, from Auckland, spent the week-end at Shropshire Farm. They were visiting Kerikeri in connection with certain land development schemes. Mr Hamilton, of the Northern Building Society, and Mr Byrne, of the A.M.P., spent the week-end in Kerikeri.
Mr Hartman, a retired bank manager, from Dunedin, with Mr R. Hudson, a stockbroker, from Auckland, and Mr. Masson, a fruitgrower from Te Kauwhata, spent a short holiday at Shropshire Farm. Mr Hudson who is a keen student of dramatic art, attended one of the first rehearsals of the Kerikeri 'Players’ production, and was much impressed with the staging and standard of acting shown. Messrs. Haines and Horne, of the New Zealand Fruitgrowers’ Federation, were recently in Kerikeri for the purpose of keeping in touch with the local citrus growers. 'Amongst those present at the second performance of the Kerikeri Players were Mr and Mrs Clive Cameron and friends, who drove over from Kaikohe to see the show.
