The heme of Mr D. Bowmar. Tara, was the scene of a family birthday party on Sunday, May 31, when all the family, and their descendants, gathered to celebrate the seventieth birthday of Mr Bowmar, and also four other birthdays, there being five occurring within a few weeks. There had been prepared an excellent dinner, which included a large family pudding, in which were coins and other good luck tokens for the children. This was followed by a large and handsome birthday cake, which was cut and divided, with good wishes, among those honoured. The guests numbered twenty-four. The afternoon was spent with many family chats, and the taking of photographs, before the dispersal of those coming from a distance.- Mr Dan Bowmar, who was born at Te Arai in 1866, is the fourth eldest of a family of 14 children, the three older than he being Mrs Ben Cullen (Waipu), Mrs Hannah (Hutt).-and Mr Joe Bowmar (Kaiwaka).
