Hobbs made the first register, jazzing round the side of the scrum to score. Porter next followed a free kick smartly to beat the defence, Sloane kicking a fine goal. The next movement Waiotira consummated saw Stanaway handle twice with Lane, and finally gain a try. When the teams changed round, High School, with the wind in their favour, set up such a hot onslaught that two. scores came in five minutes. James made the opening for the first, Thornley scoring a few yards out from touch. Alison’s kick went close.
Straightway Dobson initiated a passing rush, and, with Ward and Rice chiming in, handled again himself to touch down. Waiotira still held the lead, and regained the territorial advantage, but just before the end, Alison evened the honours with a nice penalty, making the final score: Waiotira 11, High School 11. Hora Hora 21 (tries by D. Findlay, Barron, N. Boyd (2) and Warren, one converted by H. Findlay, who also potted a goal) beat Waikiekie 8 (tries by Leech and Horsefield and a conversion by Primrose). The junior curtain-raiser at Hikurangi resulted in Hikurangi 17 (tries by F. O’Callaghan, C. Gibson, J. Harris, B. Martin (2), the last-named converting cne), defeating Old Boys 3 (try by D. Jarvis). Mr C; Jones was referee. THIRD GRADE Hera Hora 51 (tries by Patterson (3), Beeston (3), Reid (3), McEwan, Dickey.
