CONCILIATION APPEAL
ACCEPTED BY ITALY (Received 10 a.m.) ROME, March 7. The Cabinet has decided to accept the appeal to the League Committee of Thirteen to attempt to settle the war by conciliation. An earlier message stated that it was generally forecast that Signor Mussolini would not refuse in principle to consider the appeal, although he might include conditions, which would show the extent to which he would seriously enter negotiations.
RAS MULUGETTA DEAD • VICTIM OF PNEUMONIA. f ' MORE BOMBING. (Received 11.30 a.m.) London, Mfirch 8. The death is officially announced, from Addis Ababa, of Ras Mulugetta, Haile Selassie’s Minister of War and Commander-in-Chief in the field in Quoram, from pneumonia contracted through exposure during the campaign. He was 70 years age. Abyssinian Government officials are completing the evacuation of the Palace, moving the' equipment to hidden places/ Many trenches and dugouts are ' being constructed. The municipalities have appealed to motorists to lend cars for. transport of wounded in” the event of air raids. An Italian plane, after bombing Quoram, fell into Lake Ashangi. ’ Abyssinian regulars are pursuing bandits, who captured two of the four Italian aviators in the plane. The other two were drowned.
Seven planes bombed Joran, killing 30 civilians. Other damage was immaterial. This is the first raid in the Jimma province.
