WINS FOR ALBION, MAUNGATAPERE AND LOVATTS There were no surprises in the junior series. The prospective champions, Portland, were conceded two points per medium of the defunct Unemployed, while the runners-up, Albion, disposed of High School B on the school pitch. Out at Maungatapere, the locals vanquished Kamo to clinch a three-pointer, while on No. 3 at headquarters, Lovatt’s outdid Combined Services B op the first innings.

LOVATTS ON TOP. On No. 3 wicket at the Reclamation Lovatts and Services B had a very keen tussle. The house team batted first and thanks to Irving, Cunis and Shaw, with “Mr Extras” also very helpful, a total of 89 was reached. Cook sent down 13 overs 'to secure 5 for 16. The fast bowling of Cunis worried the Services’ batsmen. He gathered 4 for 20. Calder and Bennett were the only ones to get among the runs. * Lovatts.
