Ngunguru
In glorious weather the Ngunguru Institute celebrated its second birthday by holding a picnic under the historic pine tree at the beach. A large number of members and visitors from sister Institutes commenced the day’s outing with races. No one was allowed to be just a spectator. If too old or too young they were carried from starting post to the tape.
During the lunch adjournment, the president, Mrs Armstrong, welcomed the members of sister Institutes. Mrs Simmonds, president of the Kiripaka Institute, replied. At this stage the president cut the birthday cake, which was made by Miss G. Grogan, secretary, and iced by Mr E. T. Armstrong. Everyone received a slice.
