MORE FLOOD DAMAGE ESTIMATES
COST TO HOBSON COUNTY, £SOOO
I Special to “Northern Advocate.”} DARGAVILLE, This Day. It is estimated that the cost of repairing flood damage to roads and bridges in the Hobson county will exceed £SOOO. The greater portion of the amount will be expended in the northern part of the county, above Kaihu, where conditions are said to be the worst in memory. A contractor, Mr W. Montgomery, who is engaged in the construction of a new bridge at Whatoro, suffered severe loss in the destruction of the partially-completed centre-pile of the bridge, which was pushed over by driftwood. Machinery was also lost, a pile-driver being washed several miles downstream.

As a result of a conference with the public works district engineer and county and dairy factory officials, Mr C. A. Wilkinson, M.P., has made urgent representation to' the Minister of Public Works to visit the district.
