IRREGULAR butter MARKET

The London market for New Zealand butter is irregular, but there is a firming tendency. There has been a rise of 2/ over the week, New Zealand being quoted at 97/ per cwt. The cheese market is firm, but prices have not changed during the week. White is quoted at 53/ per cwt, and coloured at 57/6.

j A Press Association message, sent from London on Thursday, states that the butter market is irregular, with a rising tendency. Danish is quoted at 120/ per cwt; choicest salted New Zealand, 97/; Australian, 96/; unsalt-i ed, New Zealand, 102/; Australian, 100/. The cheese market is firm. New Zealand white, 53/; coloured, 57/6; Australian white, 52/6; coloured, 56/. W. W. Bowker has received the following cable from London, dated February 6, reading as follows: —Butter: The market is firm. New Zealand finest, 95/ to 96/; first, 94/ to 95/; Danish, 120/; f.0.b., 104/; Australian, 95/. Cheese: The market is steady. New Zealand white, 53/ to 53/6; coloured, 57/ to 57/6. Canadian, white and coloured, 60/ to 62/. Messrs A\ H. Turnbull and Co., Ltd., have received the following cable from W. Weddel and Co., Ltd., dated London, February 7, reading:—Danish butter 125/- (last year 120/-); New Zealand, salted, 96/- (91/-); Australian, 95/- (90/-). Market steady (firm). Cheese. —New Zealand, white. 53/(48/-); coloured, 57/6 (48/-). Market steady (market firm). N.Z. Producers’ Co-op. Marketing Assn., Ltd., have received the following cable from London, dated February 7, reading as follows:—Butter firm. Cheese steady. Butter: New Zealand, 95/- to 96/-; Danish, 125/-. N.Z. cheese, white, 53/- to 53/6; coloured, 57/- to 57/6.
