The Misses Nellie Drewet Vivienne Warner expect to leave this Week on a holiday trip to the South Island. A visit to Milford Sound is to be included in their itinerary.

Mr Robin Bracey, who has been recuperating in the valley after & severe illness, returned to Auckland shortly after Christmas, and has again: resumed work at the Otahuhu Railway Workshops, after six months’ leave of absence.

Nurse Mavis Hook was home from Te Kopuru Hospital last week for a short visit to her parents, Mr and Mrs L. R. Hook.

Miss Joan Drewet is visiting friends at Rawene and expects to be away a week or two. •

Mr and Mrs Revel and family (Pukekohe) and Mrs E. Parsons and Mrs T. Mortimer and children (Auckland) have been the guests of Mr and Mrs A. J. Bracey, ‘The Knoll.”

Accidents.

A series of painful accidents occurred last week, when Mr William McMullien, of The Taita, was trampled by a young bullock while attempting to haul logs to his mill. He received, among other injuries, a severe cut on the head,, and was conveyed to the Rawene Hospital, where he is progressing satisfactorily. A son of Mr and Mrs B. Goodwin, also of the Taita, whilst carrying fencing posts across a river-bed. slipped, and in putting out his hand to break the fall, the load caught the end of his fingers, necessitating the removal of part of one finger.

A Maori named Heki Dunn, while handling a team of bullocks, had sev- j eral fingers badly crushed of one hand by the lowering rope, which fouled on j the stump. He is now in the Rawene j Hospital, and may yet have to have j fingers amputated. A camp of Sunday School children (native) belonging to the Anglican Church, were housed in a large marquee further round the beach, by the Wairau Creek, and were under the care of the Rev. Puo and teachers. H.M.S. Leith, which is due to arrive j in Hokianga on Wednesday, February i sth. is the chief topic of conversation ! by the local school children, who are j to be taken to Rawene on the 6th inst. { to see the vessel.
