FRANKFURTER MURDER

THE ASSASSIN’S STORY

VENGEANCE ON NAZIS.

HITLER SHOULD HAVE BEEN TARGET.

(Received 11 a.m.)

BERNE, February 5

David Frankfurter, the YugoslavJewish medical student who shot Wilhelm Dustloff, the Swiss Nazi leader, dead in his home, insists 'that he has no personal reason for the assassination, and that '*he was

not inspired by any organisation. He adds that it would have been better had the bullet struck Herr Hitler. It is disclosed that Frankfurter is suffering from an incurable bone disease, and was recently told that an operation would be necessary. He told his landlady that he did not consider life worth living in* the circumstances.

Frankfurter informed the police that he killed Dustloff because he was poisoning the atmostphere of Switzerland with propaganda from a country where Jews were not allowed to lead a normal life. While all Switzerland is shocked by the crime, some trouble has long been feared as the outcome of Nazi persecution of Jews.
