Since last report there has been a perceptible forward movement on the local Stock Exchange, and substantial business has been put through, with the market favouring the vendors in most cases. At this morning’s call the banking section reflected, Australian buoyance, and Australias sold 3/6 higher at £l2 3/6. New Zealand issues also reacted to the general firmness, and Nationals sold at £3 15/6, a rise of 4/3 since January 28, while New Zealand’s moved up 2d, with buyers at £2 7/8. and more wanted. The insurance section continues firm, and, with strong buyers for all issues of N.Z., gained 1/-, with a sale at £3 4/-. I
Among local enterprises Peters Ice, with quotations from £1 6/6 to £1 8/-, Gas shares, between £1 5/6 and £1 5/9. and farmers’ Trading Co., from 8/2 to 8/3, were noticeable. The Noon Call. *
Orders continued to come in freely during the morning, and another good sized list of sales .was finalised at the noon call. Insurances were again in demand, and N.Z.’s moved up another 6d, with business at £3 4/6. Government stocks were well supported, and a parcel of 4 per cent, bonds 43-46, wasplaced at £lO5. a rise of 5/- since yesterday.
