BACK TO EUROPE
GOLD FROM UNITED STATES FEARS OF INFLATION. (Received 1 p.m.) NEW YORK, February 4. Gold will start to flow back to Europe from the United States for the first time in 18 months, when a shipment is made tomorrow to France. The export point has been reached, and the dollar continued to break badly today in world currency markets. Inflationary fears here and abroad stimulated pressure against the dollar with the world watching for an impending inflationist battle. Washington expects that Europe may begin to repatriate gold in large amounts, preferring the uncertain French and Dutch situations to the effect upon dollar inflation.
