MAORI BOY LOSES LIFE

Playing with a loaded shotgun cost a Maori boy, Pamariki Piko, aged 9. his life at Aria on Saturday. The accident occurred at 3 p.m. Deceased was in the house of a neighbour, Mr Charles Pehi, and it is surnnsed that the lad, while playing with a shotgun, pressed the trigger. The charge entered his right breast, killing him instantly. An inquest was opened at Aria in the evening before the district coroner, Mr Somerville. After formal evidence had been taken, the hearing was adjourned. Deceased lived at the home of his foster-parents, Mr and Mrs H. Tangihaere. His parents live at Mokau.
