rpHE adoption of a 40-hour week, with added protection to manufacturers to offset the advantage which a shorter working week in New Zealand would give to foreign factories, was advocated by the president of the Auckland Manufacturers' Association, Mr J, A. C. Allum. when the ‘•Advocate’,’ asked him for a statement of the manufacturers’ views on the matter.
