APPEAL FOR HELP

WHANGAREI COUNTY DAMAGE FINANCIAL AID NEEDED. MESSAGE TO PUBLIC WORKS MINISTER.

Mr J. G. Barclay, M.P. for Marsden, has sent the following telegram to the Minister of Public Works:—

“Re flood damage throughout the Whangarei County, council seeks immediate co-operation of your department and financial assistance in clearing roads, some of which completely blocked to cream collection. Council using every endeavour to get traffic through, but extent of damage beyond its financial resources, and immediate assistance and co-operation your department urgently sought.—Barclay.”

The county chairman, Mr J. A. S. Mac Kay, has forwarded the following telegram to the Minister of Public Works:' “The council has requested Mr Barclay to represent to you the urgent reed for departmental cooperation and financial assistance in restoring roads, especially cream routes.’’

Cr. T. N. Blake (Mangakahia Riding) has wired the Minister and Mr H. M. Rushworth, M.P., as follows: “Okaharau road completely blocked, and cream delivery cut off. Departmental assistance in labour and finance urgently required. Seventy men are engaged clearing the main north road.”
