BARONET’S RISE TO WEALTH. WOOL MERCHANT’S HISTORY. (Received 11 a.m.)' LONDON, January 19. Sir James Hill, Bart., of Bradford, who founded the wool firm of James Hill and Sons, 45 years ago, and who died yesterday, started life as a sweeper and fire-lighter in a woollen mill, after driving a donkey-cart, as a 10-year-old boy, buying greengrocery goods which he hawked with his grandfather. He demanded £IOOO a year when he was 18, which his employers refused, so, having saved £SO, he started on his own account, and was negotiating deals involving million? of pounds within 30 years.
