Northlanders put in a lot of work on the Word Building Competition arranged recently in the “Young Northlander.” —just how much you will be able to judge when you learn that Aline Bisset, winner of the 5/- prize, constructed 6,316 words from letters contained in “Join the “Advocate’s” Kupe Club.” Winnie Drake, winner of second place, was only a few words off 4000, her entry numbering 3,921, whilst Beryl Coward, who captured the remaining half-crown, submitted a list of 3,430 words. It will be agreed that these competitors have truly earned their cash prizes. .Hard work has been rewarded with certificates of merit of larger value than is usual in the weekly competitions.
