A VERY STRANGE VISITOR
THE OFFICE BOY’S PET 'SUGGEST A NAME AND WIN 2/6 On Saturday last we had a very strange visitor at Headquarters. He was very shy at first, but later became quite friendly. Strange to say he was not a bit keen about biscuits, but was more than grateful when given a saucer of bread and milk. Our visitor was • nothing more nor | less than a hedgehog. . “What do you think of my new pet?'’ the Office Boy asked with pride. “He’s great,” I cried enthusiastically, trying to stroke the newcomer and getting my fingers pricked for my trouble. “And what do you call him?” “Well that,” admitted the Office Boy, “is a problem. I can’t think of a good name. Can you?” “William,” I suggested after a moment’s thought. “You could call him Bill for short.” “No good,” said the Office Boy. “He’s an uncommonly good hedgehog and deserves an uncommonly good name.” “Adolphus?” It was the Tohunga trying to be helpful. “He’s not a Nazi,” cried the Office Boy. Obviously he is hard to please. Headquarters staff wasn’t very successful in finding a name for the Office Boy’s - new pet. Perhaps youpg Northlanders will be able to do better. Write the name you suggest for the hedgehog on a sheet of paper and post it together with your name, address and age in order to reach Kupe, c/o. “Advocate” Office, Water Street, Whangarei, not later than Wednesday next. There are four half-crowns to be won.
