FRENCH CABINET DOOMED
(Received 10 a.m.) LONDON, January 20. A message from Paris states that M. Daladier has been elected president of the Radical Socialist Party, in succession tg M. Herriot, who has been elected honorary president. The Paris correspondent of “The Times” says the Laval Ministry, as at present proposed, was doomed when the Radical Socialist Party executive, at a crowded meeting, passed a resolution demanding the re-establishment of party discipline and condemning the Government’s foreign policy. This was tantamount to summoning the six Radical Ministers, in addition to M. Herriot, who resigned from the Cabinet.. M. Herriot, however, warned the party against precipitating a crisis. Accordingly it is expected that the resignations will be postponed until M. Laval returns from Geneva.
