FOR SEASON’S BIG MATCH The following team is announced by Mr H. Wilson to defend the Dargaville Shield against Rodney:— Weir (Combined Services), Laurie (Hikurangi), Badeley. Godfrey. McKay. Dunn (Nomads). Wilson, Jennings, Nisbet (Whangarei). Bright (Old Boys), Fyfe (Onerahi). Emergencies: Batten (Services), Burch (Onerahi), Fayne (Maungakaramea). The game will be played at Whangarei on January 28 and 29. Any player not available is requested to notify the selector immediately. Weir Out. This morning, notification of his selection was wired to G. L. Weir, who is taking part in. the second test match at Wellington. In a telegram received by the Whangarei Cricket Association at 2.15 this afternoon. Weir announces that he will not be able to take part.
