DUTCH BOXER SUED BY MANAGER
SYDNEY, January 8. Mr Justice Nicholas today granted an application by Charles Lucas, boxing promoter, .for a writ against the Dutch boxer B. van Klaveren, who, it is alleged, was leaving by the Mariposa for America today. It was reported that van Klaveren, accompanied'by his wife, was escorted ashore a few minutes before the Mariposa sailed. The application arose out of a writ for £2OOO, issued by Lucas against van Klaveren, for alleged breach of contract. Lucas stated that van Klaveren had agreed to take part in five more contests. Lucas further alleged that van Klaveren’s wife had said: “I am homesick and that is all about it.”
John Adolphus Clark, who claims to have been van Klaveren’s manager in Australia, is also suing him for £172 damages.
